UAE Issues Weekend Traffic Alerts: Road Closures and Diversions Announced Across Four Emirates
Dubai, August 8, 2025 — Motorists across the UAE are being urged to plan their journeys in advance as multiple road closures and diversions take effect this weekend in Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Al Ain due to ongoing infrastructure projects and metro expansion works.
Dubai Closures & Diversions
- Al Barsha South Access from Umm Suqeim Street: Entry and exit points remain closed until development works at the intersection are completed. Alternative access via Street 31 (next to ENOC), Dubai Science Complex Exit, Al Hadaeq Street, or Hessa Street.
- Al Qudra Road Diversion: A five-month diversion for bridge construction and intersection upgrades is underway, including removal of a traffic signal, rerouted traffic outside intersections, and two new U-turns.
- Dubai Harbour Intersection: Traffic on King Salman Street is diverted via Al Marsa Street, Al Khayay Street, and Al Naseem Street for bridge construction.
- Academic City: 63rd Street closure in front of the German International School; alternative school access routes provided.
- Mirdif Area: Closures near City Centre Mirdif for Dubai Metro Blue Line works, including a closed roundabout at 5th and 8th Streets, rerouted traffic, and a new mall parking access road.
Sharjah Closures
- Al Majaz 3: Section from Corniche Road to Al Intifada Road closed until August 24 for the second phase of infrastructure upgrades.
Abu Dhabi & Al Ain Closures
- Abu Dhabi: Partial closure at Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street and Al Falah Street intersection until August 11, and partial closure on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street from August 9 to 11.
- Al Ain: Temporary closure at Hazza Bin Sultan Street and Nahyan The First Street intersection until August 18.
- Sweihan Road (E20): Partial closure on August 9–10 from midnight to 3:00 p.m.
Authorities advise drivers to use alternative routes, follow road signs, and allow extra travel time to avoid delays.
