UAE Embassy Provides Safety Alert to Citizens Traveling to Turkey After Fatal Bus Crash
Abu Dhabi, August 9, 2025 — The UAE Embassy in Ankara issued a list of safety tips for Emirati nationals traveling to Turkey, advising travelers to exercise caution to have a safe and uneventful journey.
The advice comes after a fatal bus crash in Trabzon’s Çaykara district on Friday, in which two Emirati nationals were killed and three others were injured when a tourist bus skidded off the road and flipped near Balık Lake.
The embassy suggested that citizens register for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ “Twajudi” service, check passports are six months’ validity minimum, verify money transaction possibilities in Turkey, and check bank cards are set up for international transactions. It also suggested checking country-specific travel advisories, checking visa requirements for domestic helpers, and taking copies of identification documents.
Tourists were also encouraged to follow traffic rules, adhere to any Turkish health regulations, verify car documents are consistent with passport information, and verify procedures for acceptance or conversion of UAE driver’s licenses.
The accident victims were Maryam Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, 18, and Abdul Majid Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, 32. The injured victims 15-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, 53-year-old Samira Mohammed Abdul Rahman, and 60-year-old Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim—are being treated in hospital.
Turkish authorities sent gendarmerie forces and emergency medical crew to the site, where the wounded passengers were rescued from within the overturned bus.
