Visit Saudi collaborates with Doraemon to highlight Kingdom’s culture at Expo 2025 Osaka
OSAKA: In an innovative cross-cultural collaboration at Expo 2025 Osaka, Visit Saudi the official brand of the Saudi Tourism Authority has joined hands with Japan’s favorite cartoon character Doraemon to showcase Saudi Arabia’s tourism and heritage.

Part of the “Wonders of Arabia” exhibition of the Saudi Pavilion, this interactive experience allows visitors to accompany Doraemon on his adventures through world-famous landmarks throughout the Kingdom in a fun but educational cultural experience.

The partnership also celebrates 70 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia. On until July 16, the exhibit features digital activities such as a destination quiz accessed through QR code. The first 250 people who finish the quiz daily will get a limited-edition Doraemon tote bag.

A special video for the occasion features Doraemon walking through his iconic pink portal door into Saudi Arabia’s stunning landmarks, from historical monuments to modern wonders. He goes looking for his best friend Nobita along the way, reunites with him briefly, and comes to a stop at the Saudi Pavilion inviting viewers to do the same.

“That was amazing. Come see it for yourself and don’t forget to collect your limited-edition Doraemon tote bag after the experience,” Doraemon says in the video.

Inside the Wonders of Arabia exhibit, visitors can also enjoy hands-on workshops, Saudi and Japanese calligraphy sessions, and interactive photo booths. A virtual reality Formula 1 race simulator and Esports World Cup highlights from Riyadh add a modern tech-savvy flair.

Since its release in 1969, Doraemon has become a name known by everyone in Japan, being featured in more than 40 films and 3,000 episodes, thus making him a natural fit for cultural exchange.

Expo 2025 Osaka began in April and runs through October, bringing international attention to innovation, sustainability, and cultural cooperation.
