RIYADH, 5th August, 2025 (WAM) – The eighth Al-Atula Archaeological Village Festival in the Baha region is impressing tourists with colourful live exhibitions of local handicrafts, providing an immersion in the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia.

Organized under the rubric of the Year of Handicrafts, the festival features more than 10 special sections featuring traditional skills like ancient construction methods, sword and dagger manufacture, door and window ornamentation, and traditional Sadu weaving.

Festival organizer Othman Al-Zahrani said the festival will bring the crafts to life by way of interactive activities, where the public can directly interact with artisans using real tools and natural materials that are based on local traditions.

The Baha area, with its long tradition of commitment to the preservation of culture, boasts more than 200 craftsmen involved in 20 different heritage crafts. The craftsmen continue to transfer their skills from one generation to the next, sustaining the integrity of traditional craftsmanship through markets, festivals, and public exhibitions.

The festival delights the visitors not only with the artistry of each craft but also provides insights into the historical significance as well as regional identity they possess. The event represents a vital role in maintaining national heritage and celebrating the legacy of Saudi handicraft in the new era.
