French-Saudi Strategic Partnership Enters New Phase with Landmark Agreement
RIYADH The growing partnership between France and Saudi Arabia reached a major milestone on Monday as both countries signed a comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, signaling a new era of collaboration across multiple sectors.
The agreement was formalized during French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to establish a Strategic Partnership Council, cementing long-term ties between the two nations.
“This evening, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, we are launching a strategic partnership,” President Macron announced. “We aim to strengthen cooperation in every field — from culture to defense, and from technology to energy transition.”
The Elysee Palace noted that the agreement sets the stage for “concrete cooperation and achievements,” especially in areas such as renewable energy, mobility, culture, and artificial intelligence.
Both leaders also agreed to jointly organize the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, set for February 10–11, 2025, in Paris further demonstrating shared interest in technological advancement.
Diplomatic talks also focused on regional stability, with both sides stressing the urgent need to reduce tensions in the Middle East. They jointly called for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and increased humanitarian access.
The leaders emphasized the importance of pursuing a political solution based on a two-state framework, while also pledging support for cease-fire efforts between Israel and Lebanon.
The latest developments reinforce the deepening French-Saudi partnership, one that continues to evolve across diplomatic, cultural, and strategic dimensions.
