Saudi Cabinet Hails International Consensus towards Independent Palestinian State

RIYADH: The Cabinet meeting, presided over by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday in Neom, briefed ministers on his recent meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II that discussed bilateral relations, regional affairs, and the cause of Palestine, the Saudi Press Agency said.

The crown prince also informed the Cabinet about his telephone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who appreciated the efforts of the Kingdom to support Palestinian statehood and seek international recognition.

Media Minister Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari stated the Cabinet received with pleasure announcements by Australia and New Zealand on the recognition of the State of Palestine, commending the increasing worldwide consensus for a two-state solution on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital.

The Cabinet denounced Israeli activity in Gaza as occupation and Israeli authorities’ perpetration of starvation, ethnic cleansing, and other abuses. It threatened that the international community’s and UN Security Council’s inability to halt such acts degrades international law and endangers global stability.

The council also discussed the situation in Ukraine, reiterating the Kingdom’s endorsement of peaceful solutions after a phone call between the crown prince and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Moreover, ministers hailed the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, hoping the agreement will usher in permanent peace to the area.
