OIC Secretary-General, Palestinian Envoy Talk Through Mounting Crisis in Gaza and West Bank
JEDDAH: OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha met with Ambassador Hadi Shibli, the permanent representative of Palestine to the OIC, at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah.
During the session, Shibli gave a comprehensive report on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and the rising abuses by Israeli troops throughout the occupied West Bank, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The session also discussed persisting threats of inflammatory statements and incitement by Israeli cabinet ministers, along with anxieties regarding annexation plans and Israeli assertions of sovereignty over the West Bank.
Taha reiterated the OIC’s strong position in favor of an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the prompt provision of humanitarian relief to Gaza, and international protection for the Palestinian people.
He also reaffirmed the organization’s support for a just and lasting end to the conflict on the basis of a two-state solution and in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
