Saudi Arabia Documents More than 22,000 Residency, Labor, and Border Law Violations in a Single Week

Riyadh, August 9, 2025, – The Ministry of Interior has documented 22,072 residency, labor, and border security law violations within the Kingdom during inspection campaigns conducted between July 31 and August 6. The violations comprised 13,833 residency offenses, 4,624 border offenses, and 3,615 labor breaches.

Saudi authorities caught 1,640 people trying to enter Saudi Arabia illegally 35% of them from Yemen, 64% from Ethiopia, and 1% from elsewhere and apprehended 48 individuals for attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.

37 persons have also been held by the authorities for transporting, harbouring, or employing violators. 23,630 expatriates (20,601 men and 3,029 women) are being processed by regulation, with 16,162 waiting for travel documents from their embassies, 3,136 making travel arrangements, and 11,058 already returned.

The ministry cautioned that helping illegals cross the borders, providing them with shelter, or assisting violators can lead to a jail term of up to 15 years, a fine of up to SAR 1 million, and seizure of vehicles or properties used for the offence. The citizens are requested to report violations through 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern provinces, or 999 and 996 elsewhere in the Kingdom.
