Saudi Interior Minister Strengthens Security Ties During Visit to France
LONDON — Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif reinforced bilateral security cooperation during his official visit to France this week, holding high-level meetings and touring key French security institutions.
During his visit, Prince Abdulaziz toured the Paris Operations Center, where he was received by Laurent Nunez, head of the Paris Police Prefecture. Nunez provided a detailed briefing on the center’s operational workflow and advanced technologies used for public safety and large-scale event management. The visit highlighted France’s extensive security mobilization during the Paris 2024 Olympics, which saw the deployment of nearly 45,000 police personnel.
The Saudi minister also visited the headquarters of France’s elite RAID unit, which specializes in counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and high-risk criminal interventions. He met with RAID chief Guillaume Cardy and reviewed tactical operations and advanced security strategies employed by the unit.
On Monday, Prince Abdulaziz held talks with his French counterpart, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau. The two officials signed an executive document aimed at strengthening future cooperation across various areas of internal security, marking a new chapter in Riyadh–Paris security collaboration.
The visit underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to expanding international partnerships in combating crime, terrorism, and transnational threats through technology exchange and strategic dialogue.
