Saudi Customs Shuts Down 1,302 Attempts at Smuggling in One Week Throughout Kingdom

RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority announced that it had successfully intercepted 1,302 smuggling cases at land, sea, and air customs ports throughout Saudi Arabia in only one week.

The contraband intercepted in the course of its operations comprised 66 items of narcotics and 144 banned materials, along with the attempt to smuggle 1,219 tobacco and tobacco products, 45 undeclared cash cases, and three items of weapons and associated supplies.

The authority reaffirmed its continuous endeavor to expand customs control over export and import to provide the security and defense of society. These efforts are conducted in close coordination with cooperating agencies.

The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority also called on the community to help fight smuggling and safeguard the country’s economy by reporting unusual activity on its security hotline.
