Tributes Flow in After Saudi Student Fatally Stabbed in UK as Family Starts Charity Drive in His Name

RIYADH, August 5, 2025 – The family of Mohammed Al-Qasim, the 20-year-old Saudi student who was stabbed to death in Cambridge, UK, last Friday, has started a charity drive in his name to help deliver clean water to poor families in Saudi Arabia. The drive, started on the Ehsan platform, has so far raised more than SAR 30,000.

Al-Qasim, who was on a 10-week study visit at EF International Language Campus, is being mourned by relatives, friends, and former teachers as a humble, humble, and religious young man with a very promising life ahead of him.

His uncle, Majed Abalkhail, posted on social media that the family has been shaken to the core by the tragedy. “Mohammed arrived in Cambridge as a student, with nothing but aspirations and hopes for the future,” he wrote, expressing hopes that justice is done.

Mohammed’s brothers and sisters said he was “the best of brothers,” extolling his strength, kindness, and rock-like support. “He never once raised his voice. I never saw from him anything but love and kindness,” Jana, his sister, said.

Two men from Cambridge are being held in custody on suspicion of murder and for helping an offender.

Neighbors and colleagues too mourned the loss, referring to Mohammed and his family as examples of good character, dignity, and kindness.

The family wishes the fundraising campaign will keep Mohammed’s memory alive by helping others in need and by showing the generosity and values that he lived by during his life.
