23 Injured as Amusement Ride Collapses at Taif Resort; Governor Orders Immediate Closure

TAIF — A tragic accident at a recreational resort in Taif left 23 people injured on Wednesday evening when an amusement ride known as “360” collapsed mid-air. Three of the victims are reported to be in critical condition.

The incident occurred when the spinning ride malfunctioned and broke apart while in motion, causing panic among visitors. A widely circulated video on social media captured the horrifying moment: the ride, with several girls on board, swung violently before snapping in two and crashing to the ground. Screams erupted as bystanders rushed to help, while the ride operator reportedly fled the scene.

In response, Prince Saud bin Nahar, Governor of Taif, ordered the immediate closure of the resort and launched a full investigation into the cause of the mechanical failure.

Emergency teams from the Civil Defense, Red Crescent, and local police arrived quickly, providing on-site medical aid and transferring the seriously injured to nearby hospitals. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported.

The Taif Governorate released a statement on Thursday confirming that authorities are thoroughly investigating the incident to determine accountability and ensure such failures do not recur.

Officials emphasized the importance of strict oversight and adherence to safety regulations at entertainment venues across the Kingdom. The public was reassured that safety standards would be reinforced and that violators will face legal consequences.
