UAE Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with Africa at AU Coordination Meeting
MALABO, Equatorial Guinea Representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (AUMYCM) held in Malabo.
During the summit, Sheikh Shakhboot reiterated the UAE’s strong commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with African nations, focusing on key sectors such as healthcare, renewable energy, infrastructure, education, and food security.
Highlighting mutual priorities, Sheikh Shakhboot emphasized the UAE’s ongoing support for climate action, youth empowerment, digital innovation, and sustainable development across the continent.
A key moment of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the African Union Commission, establishing a strategic health partnership to boost public health systems in Africa.
“This MoU reflects our shared aspirations to deliver tangible, long-term impact across African communities particularly in the healthcare sector,” Sheikh Shakhboot said during the signing ceremony, which was held in the presence of African heads of state.
The agreement reaffirms the UAE’s commitment under the leadership of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to improving healthcare access, strengthening health infrastructure, and enhancing multilateral collaboration.
His participation in the AU meeting highlights the UAE’s broader foreign policy objective of fostering meaningful, respectful, and forward-looking partnerships with the African continent.
