Israeli Technology Amplifies the Scale and Speed of Attacks, Expert Warns
Israeli military technology is significantly increasing the scale and speed of its attacks, raising growing concerns over accountability in armed conflict, according to Jessica Dorsey, assistant professor at Utrecht University and expert on international humanitarian law.
Her comments come in the wake of a deadly drone strike in Gaza, where Israeli forces mistakenly targeted a water collection point, killing 10 Palestinian civilians. The Israeli military later described the incident as the result of a “technical error.”
“Technology has allowed Israel to conduct operations faster and with greater reach than ever before,” Dorsey said. “But it’s also enabled a kind of detachment, where accountability becomes blurred. Strikes happen quickly, but investigations or consequences—lag far behind.”
According to human rights monitors, this is not an isolated incident. The increasing use of AI-driven targeting systems, high-speed drones, and advanced surveillance tools has transformed Israel’s military tactics, often leaving little time for civilians to react or evacuate.
Critics argue that while Israeli technology is marketed as “precision warfare,” its practical impact often results in amplified civilian harm, especially in densely populated areas like Gaza.
“There is a dangerous imbalance here,” Dorsey added. “When a state has advanced weapons but limited oversight or restraint, the humanitarian cost is immense.”
As the death toll in Gaza continues to climb, calls for independent investigations and international scrutiny over Israel’s use of emerging military technologies are growing louder.
