RIYADH — Riyadh Mayoralty has identified 26 violations that endanger public health in inspection tours of various shops selling soft drinks in the capital city. The inspections have led to the shut-down of two outlets for the violations.
The inspection tours were conducted in coordination with concerned authorities and partners, as part of routine daily monitoring and upon receiving a series of reports through the “Madinaty” application. This was a measure to secure public health and subject these facilities to municipal standards.

The violations also encompassed improper storage and handling of foods and drinks, unsanitary handling, the exposure or use of meat that is deteriorating, and the failure of employees to keep themselves clean and healthy.
The infractions also encompassed the existence of live and dead insects in the facility, unhygienic food preparation services and equipment, staff failure to put on proper uniforms, head covers, and gloves, lack of a license to operate, and reopening the facility before the lapse of the time for the closure as a punitive action.
The inspection teams also found infractions such as the inability to offer proper waste disposal containers, hiring laborers without health certificates, inability to meet requirements for showing and storing tobacco products, lack of food labels, and insufficiency in ventilation and lighting.
